Wow. Your explanation is very informative. Gives me some peace of mind since a fellow traveller managed to bring in food to NZ. Will save me lotsa bucks and hassle trying to find a halal meal. Appreciate it. Keep on blogging! :)

Hi Nurul..We had no problem with the customs. You can bring medicines (declare as drug) and Food including cooked food packed in container, canned food, Instant Noodles, Instant Rice, Biscuits, 3 in 1 Instant Coffee and Milos. We declare everything to the customs and the Immigration Officers are very efficient they wont give you any trouble if you declare. If you do not know which box to tick (declaration) for your arrival immigration card just keep it blank and ask the Immigration Officer alright?

The only thing to avoid is Do not bring anything made by/with 'Cheese' as they dont allow, even cheese biscuit is not allowed. Dont bring fresh fruits or Vegetables too.

Enjoy your holiday!

Hi there! Thank you so much for sharing your experience in NZ. Great and useful tips! :) I will be going to Christchurch and Queenstown in February 2012. I plan to bring along some dry food such as instant noodles and Brahim's from Malaysia. I see that you brought in food from Malaysia as well. Was there any problem during custom check at the airport? Did you declare the food to the customs?

Thank you!
