Crispy Chocolate Filo

Writing this real quick.

I got these amazing and delicious chocolate buttons from my boss who went to Perth last month, and he bought this for me as a souvenir, from the Margaret River Chocolate factory. My SIL who also went to Perth last year (2010) told me that its expensive wor. Could easily cost more than RM100 for that 2 pack and I believe her of course, because the chocolate I bought from Melbourne are damn expensive too and its a bar ..not in buttons form.

I am so happy to receive this souvenir that these 2 packets of chocolate still sits in the fridge, not untouch but consume very very s l o w l y. Its nice to eat the chocolate buttons on its own, its so crunchy!! I like to chew my chocolates!

Since my nieces were here during the school holiday (Dec) I experimented this chocolate snack for them to try. Be my guinea pig!

The Ingredients you need are:

  1. Filo Pastry
  2. Chocolate
  3. Assorted Nuts (own preference)
  4. Olive Oil or Melted butter

First, thaw the filo pastry, but do not let it dry. Open the packet, and let it thaw slowly, use a wet tea towel to cover it to keep it moist. You have to work very quickly if using the filo pastry for whatever you are making, because it breaks easily due to its thinness.

The pack of filo pastry I have has been sitting in the freezer for god knows how long it is. I bought it from Cold Storage, by Pampas.

To make the Crispy Chocolate Filo, cut the filo sheets into small square size about 4 inch by 4 inch (4′ x 4′). Layer 4-5 sheets of the filo pastry and apply melted butter or olive oil on each sheets of the filo pastry generously.

Then put a bunch of chocolate buttons you can subsitute this with 1 square of chocolate from the cooking chocolate bar. On top of the chocolate I put 1 small piece of walnut because I like chocolate with nuts. Wrap the fillings like how you wrap a wanton. Never mind the shape you need to make this quick. Just make sure the filo pastry doesn’t break.

Then bake it in the oven for 8-10 minutes or less until the filo pastry turn brown/crisp! When its done, leave it to cool at room temperature and serve!

Voila, quick chocolate snack , pack with filo pastry crispiness.

30 minutes Sausage Roll

For those working ladies and gentlemen out there, if you are busy and want to make a meal that is so simple, yummy and equally satisfying to your taste buds and tummy, try this easy and simple recipe.

30 minutes is all you need.

Ingredients you need

  1. Sausages
  2. Grated Cheese (I use parmesan and mozarella)
  3. Sesame Seed
  4. Puff Pastry Sheet. I use a big square ones from Pampas available at all major supermarkets. I bought mine from Cold Storage.

Firstly, cut the puff pastry and leave it to thaw on a piece of parchment/baking paper. You need to use the baking paper so that its easier for you to roll it later and the puff pastry doesn’t stick. Then line the sausages and sprinkle parmesan cheese. Add a handful of mozarella cheese and roll the puff pastry as shown in the photos. You can also sprinkle some sesame seeds on top of the puff pastry.

Put in the oven and bake for 20 minutes.

Done!! Aiks sudah hilang 1 piece

Here! Here!! On my plate!

 Hope you enjoy this recipe!

Triangle ‘cincai’ Puff Pastry

Yea yea, now seems like I crazy do cooking.. but allow me to tell you my cooking are for the lazy bum like me. Top priority in my cooking is keep things simple. No frying! Less Oil! No Herbs! BTW I really don’t know where to get those fresh herbs that doesn’t cost a hole in my pocket.

So… firstly the ingredients for the ‘cincai fillings’

  1. fresh mushroom (leftover),
  2. Tomato 1 pc- dice,
  3. Bacon 4 strips,
  4. Mozarella cheese (leftover)

You also need ready made Puff Pastry, brand Kawan. Can get in Cold Storage, Tesco or other larger supermarkets..

Fry the Bacon then add the rest of the ingredients, tomatoes, mushroom and then season with abit of salt, cook and its ready as the filling, set aside. I use abit of olive oil when frying the bacon, then the bacon fat also come out more oil.. aiyo!!

Thaw the ready made puff pastry, you may somehow pull it abit so it become abit wider piece, anything la. Then put the fillings at the centre of the pastry like the pic.

Wrap it like this and bake it for about 15-20 minutes. Tadaa!!! Triangle ‘Cincai’ Puff Pastry

Enjoy being lazy cook like me..

Shepherd’s Pie

This is also the first time I bake a Shepherd’s Pie. Hubby is away for a few days last week, so this will be a reward for him. hehe. I bought minced lamb from Jusco. (psst. for mince meat I’d always prefer to buy from supermarket as I believe they are cleaner and less unwanted parts of meat mixed in them unlike in wet market with flies around, no quality control and unhygienic, or better u can buy a piece of meat at the supermarket and ask them mince it infront of u)

Other ingredients needed, Onion, Garlic and Mixed vegetables.

Firstly, brown the garlic.

Add in the minced meat.

A dash of salt to taste.

1 teaspoon of light soy sauce and fry fry

Add in other ingredients, mixed bean, onion and additionally some hard liquor (optional)

Add in pasta sauce, amount u like la. My hubby like alot of sauce, so I put more than half can of this.

Continue mix, stir, fry fry..

Scoop into ceramic dish and spread evenly.

Put 2 slices of cheese on top of the meat (but after cook can’t even taste the cheese.. so u can put more if you want)

Get the mashed potato ready. My mashed potato added with pepper, salt, egg yolk and butter.

Lay the mashed potato on top of the minced meat.

Put in the oven, and bake for 20 minutes.

Before its ready to serve, put some mozarella cheese on top and bake another 3-5 minutes.

Tadaa!! Ready to be served.

Have Fun Trying!
