Shopping in Singapore

Okay, If you ever wondered what I bought or shop in Singapore…….

I definitely did not have a great time for real shopping except Window Shop coz everything and every price I see have to multiply by 2.5 with normal price item as the Singapore SALE is gone.

Still I bought something Singapore,  The TWG Tea at Takashimaya.

I am a sucker for nice packaging, since they offered gift wrapping I happily ask them to wrap all four tins of tea I bought.

The next time I head to Singapore, I will definitely make a trip to TWG Tea Salon and Boutique in ION Orchard to sip a cup of the many choices of tea blend they have as well as try out their cakes and macarons.

This time I miss the opportunity :( as I dont have enough time and I wish to do this alone. Just seat back and relax without the need to look at the watch.

Meanwhile, *SCREAMS*

H&M has arrived in Singapore, Orchard Road! It was the Official Opening day on 3rd September and look at the queue? It was miles long .. long.. long. Didn’t get a chance to go in :(

Day 1: Singapore Zoo and Marina

On the first day, after  checking in to the hotel,  we head to the Singapore Zoo by taxi. Okay I know Singapore is convenient, but because my parents are old and I am lazy and there’s 4 of us, its pretty economical to get a taxi. Taxis in Singapore are everywhere, and I never need to bargain with the taxi driver on the fare, they all follow meter and they accept credit card. Reliable also.

Did you know that Singapore Zoo is one of the best in the world by Forbes? For more information of the zoo click  here

Due to the Hari Raya Holiday Promotion, Malaysians are offered half price for the Singapore Zoo tickets, Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park. So the ticket price came down to S$10 + S$5 for the unlimited tram ride for Singapore Zoo ticket.

You will be given a map of the zoo, it is quite a large enclosure though and it took us 3-4 hours walking to go to every of its attractions.

Animals in Singapore Zoo are all well fed, free to roam in a open concept compound, not all animals are behind bars except meat eater animals like lions, leopards, jaguar and tiger. I should describe this zoo as the animal heaven?

The lush greenery surroundings of the Singapore Zoo.

Singapore Zoo is upgrading the habitat of the Polar Bear, so unfortunately Sheba and Inuka will not be available for public viewing until year 2012. Mr Panda is joining the zoo in 2012 too.

Here’s a photo of the very rare  White Tiger cleaning himself.

The King Lion resting and looking at other spectators like watching TV. He never move a single muscle but just staring back at us.

Feeding time for the Zebras!! That’s why  their asses facing us.

Well I had a great day at the Zoo, I enjoy watching all the animals display there except the Babirusa! Its nauseating to even stand close. Too smelly I quickly walk away.

I know some people are not into visiting Zoo, but I think the Singapore Zoo is worth going and spend quality time with family.

After Zoo, we went back to hotel to rest and freshen up before heading out to the Marina Bay for some obligatory Merlion phototaking. Nevertheless, I enjoy walking at the Marina overlooking the beautiful night sceneries.

Here’s a few photos that I took at the Marina.

I really like the cleanliness of Singapore. Everywhere is so clean and I am not afraid to walk alone on the streets as there’s no snatch thieves there. Its so peaceful, everything so proper and organize and clean and very well developed.

I never change my view, its still the same thoughts I have for Singapore after 6 years the last I visited.

Holiday Inn Orchard City, Singapore

I am back from Singapore and for the 1st time took a flight by Tiger Airways.

For the first time I close my eyes all the way and feel like vomiting on the plane. Tiger Airways was lousy! The flight was frightening and the landing was damn scary too! The stewardess uniform was so ugly, even the shopping mall promoters wears better than them.

On the first night, as I mentioned before I stayed in V Lavender hotel. The check in was pretty quick and they have a room ready for us when we check in at 10.30am!

Here’s the view from the hotel room overlooking the Kallang river. The room was spacious but I didn’t  take a photo its exactly the same as shown on the website.

On the 2nd night, I got a free room redemption, thanks to Hubby. Hehehe I dont have to pay a single cents and I stayed in Holiday Inn Orchard City which was so convenient and close to Shopping!!!

When I arrive at the hotel by taxi, the check in Officer ushered me to the Reception and the check in was fast, almost instantly I got the keys to my room and my luggage delivered as soon as it can get.

The Lobby with big chandelier.

Due to Hubby is a frequent traveller, we got 4 welcome drinks at the lobby lounge.(The front office manager very clever and ‘sik jou’) I felt a bit shy lah because I only book one room which was meant for 2 guest but 4 of us stay in one room.

We were given a room at the Executive Floor!

The walkway leading to our room

This is our room!! The room was spacious with 2 double bed! & I dont have to add extra bed.

Choose your pillow?

We had a great stay at the hotel and on the 3rd day my parents stay in the room until check out while my brother and I heads out to the shopping malls along Orchard Road.

I wish I can come here and stay again next time, when Hubby travels to Singapore on business.
